Visitor Groups & Tours

Many National and International Tour operators organise group tours at the Visitor Centre on the Lakeshore or when time permits to be on the Island as a touring group. From time to time we also welcome other interested groups.

SELF GUIDED TOUR OF VISITOR CENTRE/DVD

If your group has limited time they can avail of a self-guided browse around the Visitor Centre or spend reflective time in St Brigid’s Chapel, both situated on the lakeshore, and watch an exciting account of Lough Derg on DVD (multi-lingual). The Island is in full view of the lakeshore and the iconic statue of Patrick the Pilgrim stands tall at the lakeshore welcoming all visitors.

TOUR OF VISITOR CENTRE/DVD/GUIDED TOUR OF LAKE

TOUR OF ISLAND/DVD – multi-lingual

The tour can be extended to include a boat trip and guided tour of this ancient place of pilgrimage. The boat tour will circle Station Island the location of the ancient pilgrimage as well as coming close to Saint’s Island the location of one of the earliest monastic settlements founded a few decades after the arrival of Christianity in Ireland. This small Island is overgrown and little can be seen of the ancient ruins, the only evidence is the remaining stone footbridge which connected the mainland and the pilgrim path to Saints Island.

Come explore Ireland’s most ancient place of pilgrimage. A guide will offer insight to this unique Island’s rich history and its connection to Celtic and Christian heritage.

The celebration of Mass or a Prayer Service can also be arranged if the group has their own Priest or Christian Minister.
