List of Priors dating back to 1780 when the Pilgrimage became the responsibility of the Diocese of Clogher.
2017 (October)
Rev Laurence (La) Flynn.
A native of Roslea, Co Fermanagh. Became Administrator of Pettigo Parish when appointed Prior of Lough Derg.
Fr La was born in Roslea in 1950. From St Tierney’s Primary School he went to St Michael’s College, Enniskillen. His seminary training was in Maynooth and then in the Irish College in Rome. He was ordained priest in 1976 and first ministered on Lough Derg during the three-day pilgrimage season of 1978. He has served each summer since then, apart from 1992 – 98, which included his four years as a volunteer priest in Kitui Diocese in Kenya. From 1979 to 1991, while he taught in St Macartan’s College, Fr La regularly covered the July-August weeks of the pilgrimage season as well as the opening weekend of the season in June, so he is no stranger to pilgrims over many years.
His appointments have included CC Monaghan Town, CC Carrickmacross and CC Clogher, before becoming PP Tullycorbet Parish (Ballybay) in 2004. Fr La has trained in spiritual direction in Manresa. His areas of engagement include liturgical renewal and church music, ecumenism (he was a founder member of Fermanagh Churches Forum), and adult faith development, especially in the New Heart New Spirit programme which ran in various venues across Clogher Diocese for twelve years from 2003.
