Together on the Pilgrim Path

On Sunday we gathered at Patrick the Pilgrim

in glorious sunshine to walk the Pilgrim Path.

Above at Davog’s Seat we paused

to view the lough and its islands far below us.

Then down again at Brigid’s Well

we bent to dip the water

as many before us have done in their time,

in hope of healing and of blessing.

A half-way rest to gaze across

at the island where Davog had his monastery,

then back to the quarry where together we did

as the Lord had told us, in memory of him.
