Fr La’s weekly ‘Pause and Ponder’ from along the Pilgrim Path at Lough Derg. This week’s reflection is called ‘Pilgrim Waters’.

Fr La reflects,

In the drain by the Path

the water was babbling along on my left,

making its way to this place of encounter.

I never miss a pause at this spot

where the water from above,

plunging down its own pilgrim pathway,

always has something to say to the passing pilgrim.

Here they meet and they mingle, these waters,

pausing, then diving under the Path

for a final rush out from the culvert and over the stones,

making their way at last to the lough.

And my eye follows the last of their course

as they leave me to ponder

whence I have sprung

and where I am bound.

In the fading light I turn back to my path.
