The First Station
Welcome to the Lenten journey with the Lough Derg Way of the Cross. Today we begin with the first station presented to us by the apostle Peter, identified by the symbolic keys of the kingdom of heaven, promised him by Jesus after his confession of faith.
JESUS IS CONDEMNED TO DEATH
Pilate said: What shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ? The crowd replied: Let him be crucified. Pilate took water and washed his hands before the crowd saying: I am innocent of this man’s blood; it is your concern.
Yes, Lord, it is my concern. It is my concern that those with whom I live and work get fair play, even if that means standing against the crowd. When I have to make decisions which affect people’s lives, help me to make them with understanding and care.
We pause for some quiet moments, our eyes on “the outstretched arms of Christ Crucified….”
Save us, Saviour of the world for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.
