The unique day on the Island sanctuary of Lough Derg offers an opportunity for friends and neighbours from different churches to celebrate their Christian faith together in prayer and friendship.
Each year there is a keynote speaker and a special theme for the day.
This year, Wednesday 15th May 2019, the speaker is Fr Peter McVerry SJ, widely respected across the country as a tireless advocate for social justice, especially on behalf of those who find themselves without a secure place to call home.
The ecumenical day will be of particular interest to inter-church groups to celebrate together and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Island sanctuary.
Boats to the Island are available from 10.00am. The crossing is less than 10 minutes from the lakeshore. Tickets are available in the lakeshore reception. On arrival on the Island refreshments are served and ahead of the Keynote Address at noon, there is time to experience the peace and tranquillity this sacred space offers.
Key Note Address @ 12 noon in St Patrick’s Basilica following by Prayer Service and a light lunch. Return boat from 2.30pm.
