Prayers
Prayer is important in the reflection of one's personal faith.
The Lough Derg pilgrimage is often referred to as type of 'body prayer'-the taking off of one's shoes, going without sleep, fasting, all the while walking and repeating prayers, create an almost 'mantra type' prayer.
The tradition of pilgrims writing prayers or petitions whilst on pilgrimage, whether during the traditional pilgrimage or during the One Day Retreats is an important dimension to this sacred island.
We would encourage Pilgrims, past, present or indeed on-line pilgrims to take the opportunity to submit a prayer to the Prior. As with our written petitions on the Island your on-line prayers will be included in the Masses of St Patrick's Purgatory, keeping you and your loved ones connected with this ancient place of pilgrimage.
