I am married 25 years. I am a ward sister in a large physchiatric hospital. I have two children , John 19, and Clare 22. I recently became a grandmother a few months ago. I come from a large family of thirteen, now down to eleven as two sadly have died in recent years.
When was the first time you visited Lough Derg?
1980
How many times have you visited Lough Derg?
About a dozen
What does Lough Derg mean to you?
It means peace. Time out from all the people wanting my time-I usually have a special intention for going, but not always.I like to meet all the people from all over Ireland and beyond. I remember one year Fr Mohan had said that thirty counties were represented on the Island, and we spent two days asking everyone where they came from to try to find out which two counties were absent. I always have good memories, even when cold, tired and hungry. I still remember the old ladies hostel with affection-even though I once fell out of bed there!
