3rd August, 2007-Newcastle-upon-Tyne

First heard about Lough Derg via Pete McCarthy's book, McCarthy's Bar, who described a visist to Lough Derg-it was so funny! I then mentioned it to my friend's father Eugeine Fox who lives in Belfast but was over in Newcastle visting his daughter. He told us about Lough Derg and how he had been many times as a young man and what a wonderful place it was. Two weeks after returning home we received an annual membership for us and often wrote encouraging us to make the trip. In May this year we received another lovely letter from Eugene stating that we should make the trip as 'we'll never knows the grace that awaits us from the visit'.Well,Eugene died two weeks later and in honour to this wonderful man we have decided to make the long overdue journey. (Note: Valerie and her husband made the journey to Lough Derg)
